Leaky Landy

New Member
Hi all, Im new to this. I have just bought a 1999 TD5 apparently in good condition with 36000 miles on the clock and I dont believe its seen Mud yet! Its had Landrover service up to 28000 miles, and then I've got a feeling its been standing around for a while.
Any pointers as to what I should look out for? i.e. things I need to replace, fix, tighten up throw away etc etc. I would be really greatfull for any help pointers.
As an aside, I come to Disco form Mondeo! You would not believe how that thing let me down and it was almost new!

Hi leaky landy my disco is 1999 td5, the only advise i could give you is check with a main dealer if its had all the recalls, mine has had quite a few, such as there was something with abs system, there has been a problem with handbrake, There was a bad batch of cv joints, oo iam having to think now. But if you get in touch with your main land rover dealership, they should be able to give you all the info, but ask for a print out that the recalls have been done, Or you could try asking previuos owner, they may be able to tell you, any how hope this helps if i can remember anything else i will be in touch, But after all this my car is brilliant and love it to bits, its econmical enough, fast enough, and my god it looks:)cool: ):) :D Any how happy landying all the best bigcol.

Hi, Thanks for that, Checked out with Kentdale landrover (origin) and apparently its had them all! Marvelous! Have you had any problems with Leaking sunroof etc? Ive managed to fix my front one, but I'm getting water comming in over the back door, passanger side after a heavy shower, Dont think its comming through the back sunroof as i have gaffer'd it over to eliminate it! Any suggestions? And whhats your MPG like? im on about 28.
Thanks
Colin

Hi there leaky landy, we have not got or had a leak on ours, but we have heard of a few people that have had leaks, they have said that it was coming from there gutter, if you have a look through the forum i have read somewhere somebody else has had the same thing and they tell you how to re-seal your gutters, sorry cant remember where i saw it:confused: . I seem to remember it said you scrape the gutter and seal it with some clear silicone on the seal, at the rear of the car, o dear i wish i could remember will have a look round. Ours is doing about 30 to 35 mpg, mostly round home, We went from huddersfield to pickering then onto whitby then to york then home, and next day we went to the lights at Blackpool and home did about 475 to 500 miles on about 80 litres of diesel, But when iam on motorway iam not hanging about speed wise, let you fill in the gaps:Dwith the speed , ok catch you later all best bigcol  (colin)

Hi boys the td5 does not have the gutter seam only 300 and 200 tdi if it leaks in at the back its allways sunroof especially were the motor sits in he half moon shape seal this with silicone check the drain off tubes are attached to sun roof correctly and the rear alpine windows leak, easy fix for alpine windows is remove side panel and seal from the inside as the windows are bonded in and have to be cut out, they can be reused they are only siliconed in hope this helps, tiga
