Hi all.

I am new to Land Rovers and wanted some advice if I may.

I am looking at buying a Range Rover Evoque 2013. It is quite a high spec model but apparently it has had 4 previous owners. The salesman did say that the first might have been a pre-reg so it may have only had 3 proper owners but still.

Anyone see problems with this? It is the exact car that I'm looking for which I cant find anywhere else at the moment and part exchanging mine at a good price, I just worry about the owners thing.

Hello & Welcome to LZ.

Problems.....Yes. Afraid so. Its an Evoque. aka E-Joke. Sorry.
Not a favoured LR vehicle. If it ticks your boxes, go for it.
Many on this site will tell you it isn't a "real" Land Rover.

As said above main problem is it's an ejoke. However, I'm not looking to buy one ( perish the thought)If it's what you want and ticks your boxes ,buy it.

Then replace the Range Rover decals with Land Rover ;)
@Saint.V8 any advice to add :D

To be fair, I don't need one in the slightest. I don't have kids. Don't live in the country. Just like the look of them and don't want a massive 4x4 as I said, i don't need it. Unlike the rich mums dropping their triple barrel named children off at school who also don't need it, I like the look but realise a massive one just isn't worth it.

Then it is the right thing for you.
Just to give a little insight to the ejoke. It is immensely disliked, amongst many Range Rover owners because of the badging. The thinking of many in the community is that it should have been badged Land Rover, not Range Rover. The Range Rover, has always been the flagship of Land Rover. The ultimate journey in a capable , 4x4, off-road vehicle , whilst sitting in luxury. The ejoke is not in the same class. It is looked upon as a medium sized estate car, not a true 4x4 offroader. This is supported by the model being available in a 2 wheel drive version.
Therefore , it is not ( always) the fact it looks like a training shoe, or a wedge of cake on it's side,,that causes the dislike. It is the audacity of placing the flagship name, on a vehicle that sits just above the Freelander, in the marque range.
So.................if you like it, and it ticks what you need, buy it. That should be all that matters to you.

{Whisper} There is a website for them , a google search will turn it up, you will likely get more info there, as any on here 'belong to the wife'.

P.s if you dont 'need' it. There are much better medium sized estate cars out there.

More often than not peeps who dislike the Evoque have never driven one and know nothing of them.

The range rover sport is available without a low box. The range rover classic and range rover P38 and Freelander 1 all have a VCU at the heart of their transmission.

Saint.V8's Lawyer here:

I have advised my client not to reply to this thread as he is currently under injunction from Land Rover to stop spamming their instagram, facebook, snapchat, twitter and weibo accounts (including all Land Rover based Forums such as LandyZone) with constant requests and demands that they stop insisting and advertising the Evoque is a Range Rover.

My Client is quite happy for it to remain in the Land Rover stable as a small and capable Land Rover product, but remains adamant that under no circumstance must it be refereed to as a Range Rover.

My client is also currently being held on suspended sentence and has been found in contempt of court after referring to the judge presiding over the case as a pathetic, ill educated, trumped up little fart of a man as the judge sided with JLR in stating that the manufacturer of the vehicle should be allowed to brand their products as they see fit.

My Client unfortunately has been bound over until he changes his stance with regards the Evoque/Range Rover matter.

I have a prepared statement from Saint.V8:

"The Ejoke only cheapens the Range Rover brand. Range Rover is something to aspire to, and to make a cheap SUV/Estate car that is accessible to the masses, is not what Range Rover is about. I understand JLR are in business to make money for its shareholders, this I do not argue with as that is just the nature of the business world.

But the Ejoke is not a Range Rover, it is a Land Rover admittedly, but not a Range Rover.....

There is a saying that 'If everything is urgent, then nothing is urgent'.......and it is the same as Range Rover, 'If everyone can own a Range Rover, then no-one owns a Range Rover anymore' as making them for everyone is not what Range Rover was about."
