I have just bought my first Mark 1 TD4 2003 Freelander. I live in Wiltshire. This site promises to help me understand the trials and tribulations I will no doubt go through with this vehicle but one thing above all - it does have character which the far east vehicles seem to lack! Mine looks nice on top but I suspect it needs some TLC which it is about to get! Therefore, may I ask, one of many questions that I will no doubt be asking - the rear diff - can I remove the back plate to drain the oil, reseal with RTV and top up as normal - ie is there enough room between the back plate and under frame? I do intend to change the prop shafts VC unit and bearings at the same time and will progress from there.
thanks

Hello and welcome.
It's very tight access on the rear diff but is possible. Best ask on the freelander forum for advice.

I will do that, I'm new to conversing on the computer and indeed to forum sights so it promising to be interesting
