Hi Guys,

Just bought a 2003 Disco 2 TD5. I have only had Toyota Hilux's since I can remember so please pardon my ignorance if some of the questions have been asked before.

It seems as if mechanical information regarding Disco hardware is a trade secret protected by a regiment of well trained assassins ... Unlike Toyota who's hardware info (diffs, transfer case, gearbox etc) is readily available ...

However I have uncovered information that pointed me to an alien-like creature that could've assisted me in my quest to Discovery 2 Enlightenment but unfortunately this particular creature returned to the planet Nibiru a few days ago ... so that leaves me no option but to terrorize this forum until all my questions are answered ... the choice remains yours ...

All jokes aside: What are the gearbox, transfer case and diffs called on a Disco 2 TD5 and what diff ratios are used? Also, how can I be sure that the engine suffers from sump compression? And lastly, if I diagnose sump compression on the engine do I only need to replace the piston rings?

Thank you for your time

Danny

Hello and welcome Danny D.
Firstly, get yourseld a Haynes Manual for the Discovery 2.
Also try and download the Rave manual for the Disco 2 also.
And add your location to your profile. Help can be given if we know where you live
