First Defeneder and want to dip my toe into Laning. I've located a few lanes etc, but understand its. To advisable to do this alone. Any advice etc? West Yorkshire (Wakefield)

You could try joining GLASS, the green lane organisation, several of the Glass area reps are on the forum.
