Yesterday I was trying to replace the steering box drop arm on my dads 90. The only way I could get it off was to cut it as it wouldn't budge. Working in poor light and steamed up googles I cut in too deep and have taken some notches out of the spline which hangs out the bottom of the box. I'd say there maybe 1/4 of the way through.
Although its removed some of the splines the new drop arm still fitted on fine. And I think there's enough splines left (about 3/4) to hold the new arm firm. Would it be safer to get a new steering box or should it be fine like this?
