Hello there,

I changed the break pads on my 2003 ES, and am very proud of myself, and slightly annoyed that I've been paying a mechanic to do such work all these years

The yellow light that alerted me they needed changing still comes on after a few minutes of driving. Is there something I need to reset?

Thanks,

Pip

I am not familiar with that age of Freelander, but relying on my car service experience; most often there are wear warning wires in the pads. Sometimes you get ones with wires attached other times you need to reuse the old ones. It is possible if you reused that you damaged the wire when fitting the pads.

I would also check the ABS sender has not be distributed, if the air gap to the toothed sensor wheel has changed then this would light a warning lamp, altho I assume that would says "ABS" and not be a brake warning light.

Some warning lights are for more than one thing. Check that it doesn't come on for fluid levels, hand brake switch etc as well.
