Hi,
I recently bought a P38 2.5 DSE auto. Being a new owner I am not sure if my issues are normal. So I please ask for assistance.

I am having mainly 3 issues:
- I do not seem able to do less that 13-14 l/100km in town;
- I have some mild vibration in the cabin at idle coming from the engine that I was not expecting.
- And the most important, my auto box seem to be slipping a lot. I mean I have to rev it really hard to travel in slopes. For example, when going uphill at 40km/h, I have to rev it to 2500-3000rpm to maintain or gain a little speed. Also, when I get into the highway, I have to rev to 3000 to pass from 50-80km/h.

Can you please tell me if this is normal? Specially the auto box issue?

Regards,

Telmo

First of all check there is fluid in the gearbox. Two ways of doing this depending on year. If box is up to level you appear to have a slipping main clutch. For vibration from engine check vibration damper on front of crank shaft is sound and has not broken away from it's centre section.

Hi Thanks for your reply. The oil was checked by a mechanic, so I suppose it is right.

When you say the main clutch is splint do you mean the torque converter?

The guy may have been a mechanic but did he do it properly, start engine run it slowly through gears then check.

No i mean the primary clutch in the gearbox is slipping.

If it's the gearbox, you could try some Lucas Transmission Fix, to my surprise it sorted mine for a long time

With his description it has gone beyond Lucas. It does free off lazy valve blocks but it doesn't work miracles.
