Not sure they can get away with using the Land Rover name on "new" vehicles though.
 
Havent they got a 60k price tag though, I seem to remember reading about these. And are they new or rebuilds? New will have difficulty meeting regs.

They have the original tooling, so built from scratch they will be..

Regs might be alright for them hence the lack of regs being mentioned in the article.

I would have thought it being a new vehicle it would have to meet current build and safety regs. which is why JLR stopped building it in the first place?

Safety regs and Modern cars don't really go together in some places. ;)
 
True, cant be a kit car though cos it isnt a kit, build regs might be different in Poland so import might be an issue, or might not? There are lots of people out there building cars , company not far from me builds classic Jag sports cars but I think they use age related plates.

Since old 'fenders are still legal etc etc

I'd say if it's built in Poland and imported shouldn't be an issue as it doesn't have to meet any safety regs once built, well not really. ;)

Maybe they'll wear age related plates.
 
If you read the blurb it doesn't say it's going to build a defender from scratch using parts they will manufacture from raw materials...

I reckon thats how they will do it, rebuild/restoration, a new old vehicle, and if they have the tooling why not use it. And the difference between a driveway rebuild and a factory rebuild will be immense anyway so the price tag will reflect this. Even a pro restorer may not come close to what these guys are doing.

Aye instead of dunking the chassis in **** and sending it out.

They will galv and paint it so hopefully they'll last ;)
 
How will they get round the registering in the UK it will not be a new build but previously reg somewhere therfore ownership rears it's ugly head does it not?

According to their FB page they just took stock of a big old pile of new galvy chassis, they have a fairly huge operation going on.

Aye its a mass operation allright..

With the "real" defender being thrown over board by "land rover" which isn't LR really anymore there will be demand for the proper one..

I saw quite a few old landies in Poland when i was last there so i'd say they'll be appealing to a mass market there, in the Majority..

I have no doubt they'll find a way to get them here.
