Hello fellow green oval addicts enthusiasts. I'm Max, a new member in Berkshire. I'm 25 and currently resurrecting my 300tdi Disco after a 5 year layup. I have too many old cars and none of them work. I've worked as a tech in a LR dealer and independent specialist, and now work for myself doing automotive welding & fabrication. Which is handy.... because this thing's rotten.

Now you've got the picture:D, I look forward to starting a project thread so I can document the progress in returning it to the road.

Grew up around Reliants so I've ended up with a GTE and two SS1s. Probably not something I should admit to in public :D

Planning to tow the gold SS1 to sprint events/track days in future with the Landy.

Ive not seen either of them for years, bit marmite aint they, :) At least they dont rot like discos o_O

Yeah the SS1 is a bit odd from certain angles but they both have redeeming qualities.

True, the visible bits don't rot, the paint just falls off instead :rolleyes:
 
Ah ok so they are painted not gel coated then.
Yeah all painted over gel, the original primer on the GTEs is supposedly the culprit for bubbling and subsequent flaking. The SS1s suffer differently with flaky clear coat (metallic paint I'll have you know!:D), the PU bumpers are generally OK.

We moved recently and I've got a garage now, so some spraying might finally happen :)

What engine is in your ss1 I see one on ebay with a ford cvh engine ends in 2 hours.

Both CVH, gold one is 1600 converted to turbo/efi. Red one is a 1900 tall block, still NA.
Reliant also fitted the Nissan 1800ti lump and Rover K series in later models.

Not seen a tall block for a while either, ive got a cvh turbo in one of my motors. :)
