Rusty is a 1979 Military Light weight. 2.25 petrol engine. Overdrive. In pretty good nick. Main issue is filthy fuel from a filthy tank which has now been cleaned out, new sender pipe gauze, new lines, new fuel pump, weber carb stripped and cleaned. New clean fuel. So much better than the three inches of petrol scale paint and rust I hoovered out. I now want to put in an in line fuel filter. Real problems when putting between the fuel line and the carb. I've just read the forum thread on putting it between the fuel tank and the pump. Any one done this? Any advice?

You will be better off, advice wise, putting this in to the series section ... there may be a more relevant section, but I await advisement on that ...

Also there are owners on here who are members of ex-military Landies who may have advice from other forums and groups ...

Yes, used the disposable inline types and had a bit of 25mmx4mm bar bent and drilled with a bolt hole that fixed to the bulkhead and two others that I used to mount the rubber lined "P" clips that the two filters were mounted on, used 2 Y pieces and rubber fuel line to connect them into the line.

I used 2 as I was worried about fuel restriction on my 2.6ltr 6cyl engine from using just one.

Doesn't matter where you plonk it. Most people just snip the line somewhere easy to get to and use a couple of clips.

I've no idea why your having a problem fitting one near the carb.

Mine is cut in between the rockerbox, where it's supported by a clip, and the carb. It's a short run and doesn't need extra support.

+1 to fit it where you can see it and its easy to change and carry a spare. They do a good job but can block up quickly if you get some dirty fuel.
