Hi guys/gals,

Just a little background on myself i'll try not to send you to sleep. Im currently living in Cyprus working for the british forces. I have just bought a 1998 Disco 300tdi xs. Im loving the car and enjoying the offroading around the island. Will be more active over the coming days and hope to get to know some of you.

ps. Being a newbie to the Disco , i have a newbie question. I have the automatic gearbox and would like to know if the gear selected should be light up. Mine doesnt at the moment and im pretty sure it should.

anyway happy driving , speak soon

welcome, a pleasure to meet someone fighting for our country. will try to help out as much as possible.

Well sorry for the long delay in replying , but a few things have changed over the last 3-4weeks. Mainly i no longer have the 96 tdi :( the problems were just too much for me , and it seemed a little gutless. I took the plunge and took to the Land Rover garage here in Limassol. The gave it its death certificate and thats where it ended. so i ran around the island in a Toyota Chaser (nice car but no fun) Then to my amazement i found myself a nice Disco. Almost abondoned.

A cypriot guy had been left the car from an English friend who had to return to England for personal reasons. Now this guy at one stage was entitled to duty free purchase (as am i) Unfortunately the Cypriot gentlemen wasnt and wasnt "entitled" to drive it. So i approached the guy rather rudely as he was in the street cooking his shish kebabs on the BBQ and i eventually left his house securing myself a disco for £1500.

Heres what i know about it. 1992 V8i blue and sexy as hell.

so no longer the owner of the tdi but a beast of a V8. by the way its 52p a litre here , so the fuel is no big issue.

Sorry if you fell asleep during that and started to dribble into the keyboard but i thought it only right to explain my absence.

any comments , tips or pointers on the model i have now are welcome as always.

Cheers

Ben

by the way its still 27c at night , damn its a hard life.
