Hello everybody, I've had the excitement of a new gearbox fault this morning. Yesterday, everything was working like a well oiled Swiss watch. I got in this morning to start up, and the engine turns over sluggishly and isn't firing. A warning comes up on the dash saying 'Gearbox Fault'. I'm going to try and disconnect the battery when I get home, and then re-connect, and I also thought about putting it into neutral and rolling forward a couple of feet to see if that shifted it.

Does anyone have any ideas what it might be please? Fluids etc are okay.

Thanks

Sorry I forgot. It's a 4.6 v8 running single point lpg. The battery charge seems fine by the way. The sluggish turnover feels like it's being restricted electronically. Cheers

Thanks Mick, they are ropey to say the least. It might give me an excuse to tidy things up as well. Electrically, the car has been messed around with a lot. There are all sorts of bits soldered on with in line fuses.

Cheers

As starter motors come to their sad death in life they can become sluggish as above sluggish gearbox fault together sounds like battery.

Best way is not multi meter that will only tell you what's in it you need to test it under load as well it's called a drop test free from most garages ask to see results !!
