Ive just fitted a new fuel sender to my 90, it works fine reading accuratly.... Problem is when it reaches a little under 1/4 tank just before red the needle drops to empty cant figure out why?

mine does that to, but i just fill up anyway when it gets to quarter as i expect theres alot of crud at the bottom of my tank seeing as its bout 25yrs old

I think mine has been replaced at some point, reads perfectly well, had it off the end, must off been running on fumes

What you need to do is mess around with the angle of the sender unit arm. You have to bend it so that it reads correctly. What I did was empty the tank using the drain bolt and then I put in what I considered to be a suitable amount of diesel as reserve (i.e. few litres) back into the dry tank. I then played with the sender arm until it was showing as being just in the red on my fuel guage. That way I knew that when my fuel guage showed red that I had to fill up.
