Hi,

Having owned a Discovery Series II, a Disco 3 (which I used for off roading) and a RRS I really wanted to get something which I could really get my hands dirty. Defenders were just too much money, those in my budget generally came in several pieces, all with a nice cooper colouring ;-) So I decided to get a Freelander with the view of buying an old one really cheaply and then doing it up myself.

I got a 2001 model with 120k on the clock. Body work and electrics all in really good nick. Engine had the head gasket done just 15k miles back and looks like it's in a good state. Drivetrain, on the other hand, isn't (see my post for Diff advice). So, starting tommorrow I am going to be pulling it all apart and changing any bits that need it. I have messed around with cars a bit before but this is a different league for me.

I'm looking forward to getting stuck in.

Peter
