Hi just picked up my 04 disco yesterday and it seems to be driving weird all of a sudden it will become very twitchy and nearly impossible to keep in a striaght line any ideas. It did not do it on the test drive

Car has sls but no ace

drag link went u/s on mine sort of overnight o/k one day next day scarry. check that first':blabla::blabla:

Where is the drag link located? I was maybe thinking front shock or something along those lines. Also the disco has at on the back and road tyres on the front could that be causing it?

drag link is the steering joint from the steering box to the nearside front stub axle/wheel it has a ball joint on either end these are what you need to be checking, tyres shouldn,t be a problem as long as not mixed on the same axle. You have checked the pressures i hope???.

Checked pressures 30 in the front and 38 in the rear. I will take a look atthe drag link first thing.

don't know if this will help but are 300 tdi did this just before the rear trailing arm bracket sheered off the rear axle giving us a rear wheel steering. I'M probably way off with this as yours is a disco 2. but mine was really twitchy and damn near impossible to keep in a straight line. But like i said i could be way way off.

i'v also just had this on my 200tdi. bracket hadnt snapped but bushes on both sides were loose and bent, and causing lots of rear axel movement.

i have had this twice on my LR3! First time my missus had been off road and it had a big blob of mud on the inner of the front wheel-easy fix, second time(last week) one of the tyres had a bulge on the inside of it?? both balancing problems and easy fixes.

Changed front drag link today. Ball joint was badly worn so has been replaced, but no real difference in the handling.... Still scary? Any more ideas?

Help guys changed drag link ball joints checked all bushes and no play removed rear shocks and tested and still feels like driving on ice.

Check the steering box for play/backlash and then check the steering shaft - the UJ's can wear and the rubber damper bit on the shaft can also get a bit sloppy. The result is that you have to constantly move/adjust the steering wheel just to go in a straight line.

It feels like the back end wants to step out all the time! It's scarey to drive at the moment.

agree with classic. But if all is o/k i,de get it 4 wheel tracked/alignment .Scarry thought it,s not been in a smash has it.

It has clean hpi and no signs of any repairs. It drove fine on test drive and for the first 50 miles or so then all of asudden it started. It scares me to drive will get ittracked in the morning as needs to be done after changing drag link ball joint. Just stuck for ideas would anyone suspect air suspension? Both bags seem to hold full pressure.
