Just got a new one, the two keys only came with one FOB / remote, the dealer says thats all that comes with them ( I'm in Ireland ) doesn't sound right to me, what's the story in the UK? I've had some teething problems with the immobiliser arming when turning the key, are all the keys chipped individually to the FOB? Should I have 2 FOB's ( I'm an ex-disco man and had two)
Thanks in advance!

2, tell them there lieing sods, and you want your other fob, and your not paying a penny for it. You buy an expensive piece of kit the least they can do is give you some fooking keys!

My 98 came two fobs from new.
They are listed in the original bill of sale.
The reason they dont want to give you another one is that they are not cheap and it can be a hassle to get the second one coded to the ECU.
Stand your ground and insist on a second fob.
If they dont or wont comply then ask for £250 to cover getting one yourself and the fee to have it coded at a main dealer.
A second set of keys is no use if you damage or lose the fob.

You should have 2 fobs as far as im aware, the new defenders i work on althought hey are 2008, they are pre dealership, they have the second fob zip tied under the bonnet, near the front, on the right hand side if you were sat in the vehicle, high up in the engine bay. Might be worth a check.

Thanks lads for the response and thanks howlingO, I'm looking forward to a treasure hunt when I get home. I've done the fob re-programming bull**** before with the disco at the dealership ( "we'll just be another 10 mins, the computers in use") having went through the physco key security code procedure, ****-it if I had to go through that again! If my treasure hunt doesn't work, my baseball bat will.
