Morning folks from a new member from sunny Shropshire
This is my first step into land rover ownership , driven plenty due to being around farms all my life but never got around to owning one ... until now.
I’ve already had the battering from a few old school Land Rover purists who have told me I’ve brought the worst vehicle Land Rover made , all I’ve had so far is “td5? Most unreliable thirsty pig of on engine ever made” and “discovert 2? Worst vehicle they made for rotting” .
So with all that I still love my d2 , I’ve been through the threads on here and using the advice I’ve changed all coolant hoses and coolant , engine, gearbox, transfer box and both diff oils also changed the injector loom .
As an ex agricultural mechanic it’s actually quite nice to get the spanner’s out again
Great site guys

The D2 tots chassis, D1s rot in body.

These are not new vehicles but if it’s not too far gone it can be done. Plenty on here showing but you’ll have to wait for the searchbar to be reinstated.
If you can’t weld now is the time to start ;)

Hi and welcome. D2 is one of the best LRs made IMHO so don't worry too much about the battering you've had. Probably from the group of dinosaurs who were terrified of electronic engine management in any shape or form and said it was doomed from the start when in reality the TD5 proved to be one of the best / most reliable engines made by LR. Chassis rot can be a worry on some and can be considered their Achilles' heel but there are also many good ones depending on what preservation previous owners have used.
