Hello All,
Just in process of buying a freelander and a 2000reg td4 (es) has caught my eye at what seems like a very reasonable price. However, the seller has pointed out a couple of problems, one being the clutch could be on its way out and might need replacing and the central locking on the remote doesnt work (works ok when key is put in).
Can anyone enlighten me and tell me how much these will cost approx either at main dealer or local garage please?

CHEERS IN ADVANCE :D

All depends whats wrong as to what it will cost, central locking fault could range from flat batteries in the remote to a wiring problem.

clutch fault could be a master cylinder problem (about £150 at a dealer), if its anything more then its a gearbox out job (£300+)

before buying I would try and find out what exactly needs doing and knock the seller down appropriately or avoid and go for something that doesn't need any work

Now then I've just got back from the Slaughtered Lamb, an I've bin talking to a bloke who's got a Gaylander. "Well" I hear you ask "So what" and if you'll stop interupting I'll tell you what. Any how his clutch ****ed up after 18000 miles, Stratstones charged him £1500 to put a new one in, including a new flywheel. He has also had a new master cylinder fitted for £150 same as Clutchy sez, an Independant quoted him £400!

The 400 quid was for the master cylinder only. Dunno what they wanted for the clutch.

Ad mine done at a local garage clutch and slave cylinder assembly which includes release bearing £448 all in inc labour. Was lucky I suppose coz sometimes due to flywheel avin a rubber bush sort of thing you have to av that an'all that makes it aroung £1000 squid. Mines a 2001 TD4 ESX wi 92,000 ont clock
