Has anyone any thoughts on the best clutch replacement for my Freelander 1 1.8 petrol - Britpart, AP Lockeed or Borg and Beck?

that isn't necessarily the clutch though, it could be the clutch slave cylinder.
Ive changed the master/slave cylinders and put on a new slave cylinder bracket after reading up about heavy clutch pedals on here - no joy though still have to have mr Atlas left leg lol. it could be the linkage inside the gearbox that is seizing maybe...but in general I was just saying that to buy cheap does'nt always pay off

yeah same is happening to mine, sort of, the pedal isn't stiff but it doesn't fully disengage occasionally and will judder from time to time.
this is due to the clutch release arm being steel and going through an alloy bellhousing.
i've drown mine with wd and greased the end to make it better.
when i eventually have to change the clutch, while it's off, i will clean it up and give it a damn good greasing. or buy one of the ones with a grease channel built in and a grease nipple on the end.
Yep 1.8 and Ive done the same with WD ..it makes it a little better for a while.

My clutch pedal is about 30mm lower than the brake pedal !!
