I have just had a new clutch and dual mass flywheel fitted, in my Disco ll Td5 manual g/box, 2001, now it’s starting screaming, very loudly and gets stuck in reverse, does it sometimes going up the gears but mainly in reverse, used to do it very quietly before changed clutch, assumed it was thrust bearing, any ideas?

Ok, I will challenge them today to see if they did actually fit them,

They may have fitted them, but did they oil the spigot bearing? old series motors you had to soak them in oil for 24hrs, not sure on newer stuff.

Did they test drive it after fitting the clutch?

Yes I was told about the oiling, but I doubt that was done, probably just greased, yes they test drove it,
The funny thing is, the car drove normal for about 5-6 days, then this noise started happening, which is what makes me think perhaps the thrust bearing has failed, but wouldn’t it scream in every dip of the clutch if that was the case?
They’re going to drop the gearbox oil and replace with Moly Oil now

I would assume if it is the release bearing at fault then it would make the noise every time the pedal was pressed.
But that does not explain why it sticks i gears?

No, I think the reverse gear sticking is the confusing bit, guess I’ll have to wait and see what happens when they change the oils, saying that, bloody 5hing hasn’t done it for two days ‍♀️

Maybe they caught the edge pf the spigot bearing when fitting the gearbox causing a burr, and now its done a few miles said burr has worn off and will cause no further issues, so they may change the gbox oil and it will appear to fix it, but in reality it had already fixed itself!

Not necessarily , my spigot bearing is noisy...sometimes. It can also be quiet for days on end and then decide to be noisy for a while before going quiet again.

Welcome to the asylum, mate!:):):):):)
If it's gone quiet now, i'd just stay with it and be thankful. But the gear sticking thing is weird. :(

well it’s been quiet for a few days, but did it today and got stuck, drives fine in between the bouts of aggravation, so I’m going to live with it for now and see if it gets better,
