Afternoon all,

Just signed up today, name is Gavin and I stay near Glasgow.

Having always wanted my own Classic one day and with the imminent winter heading our way I've been looking for something to tackle the snow.

I own a car sales business and was contacted by a customer who had for sale, none other than a Suzuki Baleno!

After arriving to view the Suzuki, the customer owned 2 P38s and a Classic. The conversation never lasted long on the Suzuki and before long we had done a deal on the Classic.

It's a 94 Vogue SE Auto 300tdi, 2 owners from new. Gerry had owned the car since around 1996 and coincidently I had worked in his pub around this time! Small world.

Anyway, we finally got her going as the battery was completely dead. She has not been on the road since 2006.

Took her for 2 hand washes then straight in for MOT check.

It's drives amazingly well considering its not been driven in 5 years.

Few issues so far, drivers electric seat and window don't work, drivers exterior door handles a bit tight, rear bumper bar and rear end caps need replaced, front fogs smashed and dent in the passenger door from a genteman Gerry ejected from his pub back in the 1990s :crybaby2: `)

Supposedly I should have remember this incident happening haha.

Part of the deal was I return him his tires but I think id prefer plain black.

Few bits of paint needing done but nothing that is anything difficult.

Here's the snaps

scrubbed up well enough, much to do for test?

Just waiting to get it up on the ramps mate, been to busy with sold cars last week.

Hopefully not too sore, then some new bodyparts then off to the bodyshop.

Can't wait!

Bought a freelander yesterday for the missis as here 535d is going to be useless in the snow so got a couple of projects now haha

It came up so nicely after its wash that i'm guessing there wasn't too much acid in all that pooh!

Now you need to do a photoshoot for us on that red P38 in the background :D

Haha that p38 will be sitting there for a while to come. Someone rebuilt the top end and left "something" lose in it.

Paintwork seemed ok, going to get a good bit of tlc whether it be a detail or paint. Never got a chance to see the roof after the wash.

remember this nice warm fuzzy feeling of new car ownership , it's all down hill now !!!!!
welcome to the darkside .

Looks just like mine, albeit with less **** all over it to start with. It's amazing how hardy RR paintwork is!

Is that on air suspension? I thought all softdash's were, but it looks too level after being sat for 5 years.

Hi mate, the previous owner converted it to springs thankfully, although there is plenty of pros's to the air suspension I would have liked

Small update, the garage finally got around to getting it ready for MOT, so needed front disc and pads, a front caliper and 2 rear shocks. Not bad really.

No welding and they said the chassis is very clean, almost as if it was replaced previously which is a huge bonus.

The 4 springs are new, as are the rear calipers and a few other bits and pieces.

Just ordered the parts from Paddockspares there including the new front fogs and rear bumper bar for just over £300.

Just need need end caps then address the electrical issue around the drivers seat/electric mirrors and order a new drivers window switch. Also the rear glass screen is only closing shut on one side.

Then off to the bodyshop

The rear screen should be able to be adjuasted to close. On mine, the RHS likes to be shut first (rest it shut and then a short sharp whack) and the the LHS second, but on that you have to hold it open slightly and another short sharp whack clicks it closed.

I also need new bumper end caps for mine - they are a truly stupid design.

As for the drivers seat switch, carefully prize off the switches, undo the top cap and spray some WD40 in there, giving everything a good wiggle around - worked a treat on my first RRC.

My chassis is also completely clean and rot free, some of them have survived well! Just a tiny bit if rot on the boot floor, but nothing serious.

ive had a strange experience with my electric seats/mirrors. my lse came with no drivers seat switches, so i got one and plugged it in. i started to move the seat base switch and the mirrors started moving??? is this happening with yours?
