On a forum a few months back I asked the age-old question... do I get the chassis replaced or sell as a going concern? The overwhelming response was get it replaced, or you’ll just end up regretting it!

Somebody recommended Si Sagar at SS 4x4 Performance so we had a chat on the phone the following day - he put any worries and concerns I had completely at rest. Next thing I know it was booked in and I sent him a load of dosh for a Richards chassis and some parts that I knew would need replacing (plus maybe a couple of “essential” upgrades). Simon also advised and recommended some other bits and bobs and before we knew it, we had a plan.

Well a couple of weeks back he came and took my baby away. Last week, he pulled back up with her on the trailer. I’m so completely blown away by the quality of work and how the car now feels and responds. It’s a literal night and day difference.

Simon kept me up-to-date almost daily with what he’s been up to along with loads of progress pics (and never once got annoyed at me bugging him). Every now and then a new invoice would turn up but I paid without hesitation, having complete faith and confidence. If he said something needed replacing, I agreed - no questions asked.

Anybody needing work, upgrades, a performance bump or rebuild - Simon is your man. I’ll not go anywhere else now, sorry Si

Thanks mate, truly appreciate the skill, love and attention to detail you’ve put into bringing ‘Triggers Vroom’ back to life.

Not sure he's even on this forum, but just wanted tp spread there love as I've now got a smile on my face when driving the defender again (I did lose it for a few years)!

That looks like good work he's done on your Landy, and nice to get it back in under two weeks.
lt's always good to get feedback about companies who do things like replacing the chassis.

Those two Duracell batteries must be powering some very big Rabbits!! :D
I'll ask the wife...

To be fair, the amount of crap I get off my mates about my 'kit car built with bits off eBay', the Duracells were quite a nice touch :)

Yep, that's what I thought - he's done a good job for sure.

It was a fair old list of stuff he had to do, most definitely not a simple straightforward chassis swap. 2.5k over budget :( But still, I'm very happy indeed

Saw the FB pics, original chassis totally knackered. They've done a great job...are you going to clean up the rest of underside/suspension et al?

Yep, had new suspension, brakes, exhaust, steering box…. Etc etc

Dare I ask, how much did it cost altogether? I promise not to tell your wife.

Ha, I’ve looked at it as an investment…

Total was £8.5k all in, that’s very many parts and all labour. I had budgeted for £6k but more stuff surfaced that needed replacing during the process. Obviously. Plus I updated a few bits too and added some toys

Thanks, that's pretty much in the ballpark of what I reckoned it would be to get mine done. So far, the chassis is not too bad but it would be nice to have a shiney new one. My existing one might just last as long as I live though and if it does it means I would have spent all that money just for my missus to flog it for next to nothing or worse still, to give it to one of her brothers.
