Yes, I've now got my S3! Woohoo. My first car! A 1983 88" Station Wagon from Liveridge 4x4 conveniently close to my parents' place in Redditch, where I am now with "Boo" (for that is her name) parked on the drive next to my Dad's Renault.

Thanks for whoever suggested Liverpool Vic insurance - under 300 quid for Fully Comp on my less-than-a-year driving experience. I owe you a few pints.

Some early teething problems that might require me to pop into Liveridge before I start the trek up north:

  1. Oops. Drove too close to the kerb and broke my wing mirror. Seven years bad luck to that bush.
  2. Gear knob kept coming off. Tips for a more secure fixing welcome.
  3. Catch on one of the straps for the rear seat seems to have popped off.
  4. Leaks like a sieve. Its been raining constantly since I got her, and there's drips everywhere.
Oh, and 5. Dad made me drive into Brum to pick up some odd bits of plumbing from my sister's place and now there's dirty black water in the back. I guess that's payback for all the dirty football boots thirty years ago...

Managed to get 60mph out of her on the flat with the overdrive engaged. First time with the overdrive I managed to knock the gear lever into neutral without noticing and wondered where the power had gone. Bad design that the overdrive comes forward to engage when the gear lever is right back in fourth. Still, won't do that again, will I?

Fun fun fun. I wonder how much fun the M6 will be tomorrow...

Drill a couple o holes at the back of the tub, park on a slope and let the water drain out! Dont leave important papers in there, they get all mushy!

1 Don't be superstitcious.
2 no-more nails
3 don't worry about it.
4 get used it. they all do that.
5 it'll soon find it's way out of all the other holes that are there.

Enjoy and welcome to the loony zone.

Those aren't teething problems they are whats called 'living with a landrover' if you think those leaks are bad wait til you go off roading
