I've just been offerd this land rover for £2000 on a second chance offer thingy on ebay.
Land Rover Defender 90 Off Road | eBay

Should I take the chance and buy it do you reckon? Or has it had so much done to it that its going to be a money pit?

Cheers

It would be worth looking at.

Observations from reading and photos:

It's not been very well looked after. Its filthy under the bonnet, if he can't be bothered to clean it up for photos for selling, it makes you wonder if he ever cleaned it. Wet mud on chassis/bulkhead = rot

The rear cross member is showing quite a bit of rust. I'd be going over that and the rest of the chassis very carefully. I bet the chassis will need work.

Other question is why say the winch kit is worth 3k, and offer the whole thing to you for 2k?

I'm not saying don't go for it, but you need to take a good look before parting with your cash

It really does not look well looked after at all does it, thats what made me wonder

If yur going to view see if he will wash it first. The mud could hide a whole multitude of sins!

Dont get blinkered wea the winch's they dont make the vehicle fail its MOT and aint going to help whilst driving around day to day.

its rough round the edges but it is a low price , and a start.

Go and take a look. If you're thinking of getting a landy, the more you see the better. It could just be that he didnt wash it this time, but it'd make me weary. Take a look, if you're not sure, don't go for it.

seems to me he bid it up himself and come un stuck ........
as said you need to view it first then make your mind up

Thing is I don't need a winch or winches, I'm not going to be off roading it much other than running around parts of the new forest and a few of our sites for work!

And the whole damn thing just looks like its held together with cable ties!!!

You don't need anything on it then, leave it and find another more standard tidier one

True, but it is close to home and cheap I'm booked to go and look at a landy in ross on wye on Tuesday next week but I'm getting suspicious of that one because it has been for sale for so long!

i spent months looking for mine but I eventually found it unmolested not too far away for 1600, I then steadily molested it :p haha but don't rush into anything and end up with a heap

I might be wrong but on picture 11 I think I can see a hole in the outrigger. I am looking on a phone so could be wrong. If it was me I would find a tidier standard one.

Just a bit crusty, could have gone through on top.

Corrosion where spring sits in bracket on chassis.

Wouldn't risk it if I were you, just paying for fancy bits, best get a good solid well looked after landy and sort it how you want it yourself in my opinion:)
