If its a manual i think its just a good tow rope and a gentle tug ;)

If its an Auto I believe you need to put a fuse in number 11 fuse hole this over rides something and then put it in N to tow....

Might be best to double check that. I'm doing this from memory so might be not be quite right....

But its a start hope it helps Mutz

Need to move a non running p38 by towing it can this be done if so what do I need to do

Put a fuse in position 11 under drivers seat, switch on ignition and wait for transfer neutral message, then switch ignition off. Then you can tow it.

Just read your post...its the auto one. Remember the brakes will be very poor without servo.

I honestly didnt know that. thought it would be like towing any other manual permanent 4x4 like a disco for example just put it in N and tow away

Discos have manually selected diff lock. P38s don't they have a viscous coupling and the transfer box MUST be put in neutral before towing. Try putting a Disco in diff lock and towing it see what happens. :);)

the bolt had fell out thus the sensor got ate on further examination it had been chemical metaled or the like at some point in the past so will have to helicoil the hole

You had better hope it has not taken a pin off the flywheel. :D
