:confused:Hi new to landyzone but I have read your forums quite a lot and they have helped me loads in deciding what to buy and how to modify
My question is what size tyres and wheels should I buy for my 300tdi 3door
it has a 2" lift 75mm extended wheel arches (cut quite a bit of metal away) I cant seem to decide what to fit, I will be doing a fair bit of green laning / offroading during the winter so was looking at insa turbo special track or saharas but I want a large enough tyre that wont look stupid sitting in the middle of the oversized arches and also should I get offset wheels or spacers? and 15" or 16" 7" or 8" wide????
I realy would appreciate your help as my head is spinning trying to work out tyre sizes etc and as its a lot of money I realy must get it right
Thanks All

235/85R16 or 265/75R16 and you won't need extended arches. Anything wider is worse off road, but causes less ground damage. What's "a fair bit"? If its just green lanes, then no real need for 90/10 off road tyres like Insa Turbo Special Track, which will compromise on road performance for the sake of a few more yards you'll travel off road before you're stuck. Better might be 80/20 (mud terrain) tyres, for example BF Goodrich tread, maybe KL71 style (I think Insa Turbo Sahara is similar) and plenty of other styles. Use something like 4x4 Tyres :: The Ultimate 4x4 Tyre Website :: to look at the treads and compare prices.

Unsure about offset rims. 235/85R16 are best on 7", 265/75R16 are okay on either 7" or 8" rim. With the 265s, and without offset rims, you loose quite a bit of steering (increase turning circle) since you need to adjust the steering stops. With offset rims, then you're into problems with the arches and might need to fit bump stops which will reduce suspension articulation. Hence the 235s might actually be better.

Personally, I'd have gone for 235s except I found a bargain set of 265s and cope okay with the extra turning circle (they're on standard steel rims and standard suspension).
