hello all, last night i found myself playing in some puddles, turns out that one of the puddles was a pond..... long story short, I jumped out the window reached under the bumper and grabbed the winch cable and started running for the closest tree in sight. jumped back threw the window and by the time i got out of the "puddle" and opend the doors about three inches of pond water poorded out!. my H/K amp is fryed (started smoking and now is a mass of melted wafer board) and my check engine light is on with p0600 and with my tranny cpu pluged in the lights on the dash all light up (the ingnition on possition turnes on and off by its self). ok where do I start? i dont care about the amp as it is trivial. but is the tranny cpu causing the ignition turning on problem or is something ealse fryed? thanks everyone.:(
 
I dried out the tranny ecu and reconected it. its still f_cked... can't put it in manual mode and it makes the ignitions system power up eventhought there is no key in the ignition. I wonder if I should be looking for another transmision ecu or if the problem is some burnt wiring. has this happend do anyone ealse?? p.s. it was a really bad idea to try and drive threw a mud puddle without checking the depth first......
 
I drowned the main engine ECU in my TD5 which killed the engine. I left it for 3 days on a radiator, stuck it back in and she fired!
I've since sealed up the ECU with silicone.

if you really think that you need a new ECU then you have nothing to loose by cracking it open, flushing it with DISTILLED water and letting it dry out naturally over the course of a few days
 
thanks for the tip. i will take the ecu apart and make sure its dried out.
on another note. i sourceing a new H/K amp and transmition ecu. does anyone know if the amp and ecu from an 2001 is the same as 2003. i have a 2003. thanks for the help.
 
ok i took the ecu apart and it does not look good. i think it is beond repair.
i can buy an ecu and H/K amp off ebay but i need to know if the 2001 parts are the same as my 2003. if anyone can help me out with info it would be great. also does the ecu have to be unmarried/married? thanks to everyone for there help.
 
ok, scooter the newbie here.
I cleaned out the ECU with contact cleaner and a tooth brush. and voila! its working again! who would have thought it could survive. now my only questions is: are there any differances between the H/K stereo amplifiers from 99-03? i am looking at one on ebay but its from a 2000 model. and i have an 03. any help is good hel thank again guys. oh yeh and the code p0600 is cleared now. it was from the transmission ECU not working.
 
I have been trying to repair a P0600 code as well. I am also getting a P1843 code. I disassembled and cleaned the Transmission ECU last night and I'm waiting for the M&S lights to start flashing again. Anyone experienced the P1843 code?
 
Yes. I am having the same codes. P1843 and p0600. Three amigos are also on. It will start and then die shortly. Then it will run and sound fine for 20 minutes and then suddenly die. Sometimes I can keep it running by pumping the gas peddle. It just acts like I turned the key off. I have installed new MAF sensor and a new Crank Sensor twice just to be sure I didn't get a bad one the first time. I have had fuel pressure gauge hooked up when it dies and it has full fuel pressure so not fuel pump. Next I plan to check voltage from ecm to ect. Any ideas will be greatly appreciated.
