Being as both my son and i have freelanders i thought it might be a good idea to get one , a friend of mine has one it works on my sons but not my td4?? Anyway i can not afford something like a hawkeye and found these and would like your opinion on them

I have an Icarsoft I930 which does most things on the FL1. It was about £80 but is very basic when compared to my IID BT I had for my D3.
If only Gap made the IID for the FL1. I can dream can't I?:)

Hawkeye is better then the I930 for the FL1. For the FL2 it's IID all the way!!

totally agree what @Nodge68 has said,

the problem u will have is the years ur landies were made , for the reason of them not being obd2 compliant , where a lot of diagnostic machines can't read the codes

diesels weren't obd2 compliant until 2004 , petrols were from 2001, so u would have to buy either a hawkeye , but as u mentioned that's out so it only leaves the option of buying the i930


maybe if u ask on here , there might be someone near to u who may offer to plug in a hawkeye for u ????


@Nodge68 , i see the iid BT are now £420 :rolleyes:, pleased i bought mine when i did

None of them. You need one that's for Landrover.
I've got the icarsoft LRII, around £125. Does all Land-rover and jaguar. As pointed out yours won't talk to the basic OBD readers, so your just wasting money. Save up to get an icarsoft, they're basic but do the job.

Unless you want to read the TCM, which the Icarsoft can't. :mad:
 
Just a bog standard fault code reader if you have a smart phone will be under £20, £10 for the wifi or Bluetooth obd2 dongle and £10 for the app. I've got a dongle in every car.

The Bluetooth readers are ok if you have full OBDII compliance. Alot of TD4's aren't. Mine works great on the 2011 Jeep, but is pointless in my 2002 Freelander. Plus the dedicated LR readers can really drill down into individual systems, apart from the aforementioned autobox, where you need one of the expensive gizmos.
