Hi guys,

I have just managed to get my hands on (with some help from mum and dad :)) a defender.

But i am wanting to uppgrade the inside as it has been a work vehicle. There is no radio, passenger seats etc etc and basically needs the full interior upgrading (The car itself has just had a full outer respray so looks gleaming on the outside!!!)

So my question is, what is the best dash i can upgrade to, i like the looks of the 2008 defender dash but can this be fitted and if so how easily? I am a fitter but do not know anything about defenders as this is my first!

Any help would be appreciated!

Many thanks

Luke

i like the inside of the TD5s.

Get some pics up of your truck.

It must have some sort of dash in at the moment. They dont come with much in, the Puma Defenders Dash's are alot more modern than the previous ones though.

I like the simple look design of the later TD5s

Hey Luke,

Join the club! I've just got myself a 96 n reg 300tdi too that also needs a little interior tidy. Mines at least got a LR original cassette deck (that doesnt work) and the dash is in decent condition but like you it needs new seats and a bit of tlc to get it at its best.

Getting to the point though, I've no idea about the 2008 dash fitting or not but I've been thinking of going with the MUD console from MUDSTUFF.CO.UK Land Rover Defender Solutions : 4x4 : four-by-four : MUD Seat Rails: Mytholmroyd, West Yorkshire which seems nice and simple to fit plus gives you plenty of space for fitting cd players, switches and extra gauges.

Hope this helps + if you get a chance post a pic to let us see ur new toy (lol - not that I can say much coz I've still to post any of mine!)

changin the whole dash could be a right pain! Get yourself a MUD as mentioned.
but first take all your interior (seats carpets the lot) out and hoover/ steam clean then paint all the surfaces to smarten it up.

Then take out your headlining and remove fabric, wash, stick back on tight to back board and put the headlining back in. fit some good sound insulation. Maybe some extra gauges? all that would hae more effect and be easier and cheaper id say!

Fitted my mud dash yesterday, took about 1 1/2 hrs and pretty simple. Worst bit is getting the saw to the old dash. Def measure twice and cut once! Looks good though :)

Thought about the Raptor - better looking - but recond better flexibility of switch positions etc with the Mud console. Also bought teh console that fits round the gear stick, very useful.

As above - another MUD console here. I did like the look of the Raptor but reckoned the MUD looked a bit more "factory". Most people who get in my Landy don't realise it wasn't always there.

Thats one of the reasons I prefer the Mud over the Raptor. The Mud one looks like its meant to be there.
