Hello Chaps and chapesses!

Rebuilding my serpent belt V8, nearly done but I have a mystery bolt I left in it's hole on the front of the r/h cylinder block just above and to the left of the oil pressure switch and it's a allen headed bolt????

Any ideas?
Cheers Chris.

Info above.. why bother... it's not so helpfull .

Hi Chris...One end of a small 'dog leg' bracket is fitted to the bolt, the the other end goes up up behind the ancillary mounting, the lump of alloy the holds alternator, serp belt tensioner and a/c compressor.
Where the other end of the bracket is I don't know u can't see it, it may be part of the a/c compressors heat shield as that's all is shown in my parts book.

could be the bolt for the coolant rail, mine is clamped on the left hand side

That may be it :) a bolt for the support bracket of the black steel heater/coolent pipes as one goes down the back and it's black paint/plastic covered and now pealing off.

I agree, mines the same, coolant pipe bracket.

On the front of the right hand bank of cylinders (when viewed from the drivers seat)

Brilliant, thanks guys you were right about the lower bracket for the steel coolant hose!

Fired it up today for the first time since the re-build, had my fingers crossed but running a lot sweeter now with the new cam, followers, timing chain, cam and crank sprockets and a pair of head gaskets:)

Ready for Billing when I've finished a few smaller jobs!
