Hi people. Just a quick note about my last 2 years of P38 ownership.

Purchased in Jan 2007, for £4500. A lovely green tank, no corrosion scratches or dents. Great to drive, not quick but suits me fine.

First issue: BATTERY: I did notice when I purchased the car that the battery did not fill the huge void in the engine compartment! That's because it was a piffily Halfords battery made for cars, not tanks! It lasted about 2 weeks before I replaced it with a £90 unit of the required spec. Obviously at this point I learned all about the key synch issues and the fun that comes with it!

Second issue: OIL COOLER PIPE: Leaking oil from one of the clamped rubber ends. Ebay, £20. Easy. Did a full filter and oil change whilst I was on.

Third issue: KEY FOBS: Battery covers on key fobs were old and worn and kept losing synch, very annoying. Ebay, £8.

Fourth Issue: EAS SLOW TO LIFT: 5 mins to lift in warm weather, 10 mins in cold. Replaced teflon piston seal in compressor. Didn't really help. Also back end drops overnight. Not yet rectified!

Fifth Issue: TAILGATE STRAPS AND STRUTS: Ebay again. However lower straps bolts were totally corroded and required anglegrinding.

Sixth Issue: TYRE WEAR: Front tyres wearing on outsides, and not just lazy steering. Tracking is okay, suspected Differential Viscuos coupling ceased. Not replaced yet as it's £300!

Seventh Issue: BOOT WATER: A small swimming pool in wheel well. How is it getting in there?

Eigth Issue: EAS FAULT: This is the most complex, expensive, time consuming fault so far. Will give this it's own thread!

Still love the old girl. She's been great in the snow this Christmas, even if she has been on the bumpstops a lot!

Thanks. Nah, just niggling stuff. But see my new post on EAS problem as this is the most major to date. Like your roof bars, where did ya get 'em?
