a dark blue disco 1 ES manual... for £400...

just been to view it with him... he thought it'd take 10 mins to look over it

40 minutes later armed with a screwdriver I found the passenger side sill will need patching, the boot floor has surface rust but is solid enough, should last a few months before it starts going through, told him to get it done quite promptly though. Rear arches are good apart from the bits behind the wheel which will need rubbing down and patching. Apart from that its good... all electrics work apart from sunroof... has heated seats too, not seen a manual with heated seats before!

The clock works...

177k but needs a cylinder head - paddocks do them for £300, any other suggestions? A local engine specialist (sussex engine supplies) kindly suggested paddocks too... so obviously they ain't cheaper!

Has boost alloys too with 4 good h/t tyres... generally not a bad road car! MOT till june and tax til the end of the month!

He's on about buying it to fix up, MOT and flog on... I'm trying to convince him to keep it as a second car though cos I'm jealous! :p

Just goes to show there's bargains out there (when your not looking!)

Sounds good.. I paid £400 for mine too, but it was really rusty and needed a hell of a lot of welding. The body panels ain't that great either, and its the basic model. I have spent I guess about £600 doing it up and about 2 weeks work.

400 quid for a rusty disco one that needs a new head isnt cheap

sell the wheels and scrap the rest

If the engine had been tip top, bargain. Or better still great donor. My donor cost £600 with 128k 200tdi. Made half back already in selling stuff off.

I would hardly say its rusty... one sill, a couple of patches and a boot floor is hardly enough to warrant scrapping a vehicle!

Say its £350 for the new head and gaskets... thats £750 for a disco that needs the above welding.... which can all be done at home anyway... you'd scrap that would you?
