When i bought my car the seller told me, the day before it was delivered, "that the sound system had just packed in to all the front speakers. All thats left is the rear speakers and the bass/woofer, no volume control, and a boom when the ignition is turned off", and so the price was reduced an amount to allow for the purchase of a replacement HARMON KARDON amp.

However, I have since removed the CD player and sub-woofer to has a rummage, but have never seen such a convoluted mess of cables. there's a whole bunch of cables that look like headphone jacks just rolled up and unconnected, (I think these must be the original speaker wires?) the original amp is hanging loose in the wing with another box in its place, some monitor? and then an absolute jumble of different cables, some connected to the other box some spliced to other connectors and many just wrapped over with electrical tape. All pulled out of the wing there is enough cable to cover the boot floor!

Not having another vehicle to compare with, can anybody explain what itÂ’s all for? is it beyond sorting? why would anybody fiddle about so much?
I wished i'd taked a photo, but was just glad to be able to cram it all back in the wing!

Thanks for the reply, is it reasonably easy to get an aftermarket system for this, what's been done looks like the ramblings of a mad man!

Why not put your location in your profile? It may help you if someone is near.

If you were near I may have been able to help. I have just had a similar problem with mine - lots of wiring checking and remaking.

Sounds like a car kit has been removed and botched to get some speakers to work because they cocked up. Take the head unit out and check for more butchered wiring.

Hope you find someone near you to help.
