HI everyone just bought a 96 P38 2.5 DSE its really nice bought it privatly drives great but yesterday noticed the ABS light came on with fault stated on the dash, carried on driving and car seemed fine, When i went out this morning though after about 30 mins of driving and the ABS light went out so thought it was an intermittant fault, but when i pressed the brake pedal it vibrated like the abs was kicking in?? and the brakes lost all there power. So i pulled over turned the engine off and started it again. The light then came up again and the brakes are fine again... obviously there is some weird problem here so where should i start looking?? maybe the ABS sensor?? had alook on a few previous posts and this looks like the area which may have the issue. MOT due next month and it will def fail with ABS light on. ANy help would be greatly appreciated.. great site too.

Thanks

Sounds like a sensor or relay problem. Go round and check the security of connectors on the sensor wiring. Diagnostics will show the fault area..where are you based??

Could also see if the sensors are touching the reluctor ring (Should be), they are held in place by spring tubes..pull the sensors out (They will be tight)-not by the cable, using a twist & pull motion, grease them up preferably with silicone grease (Normal grease will do as a temporary fix, then push them in until you feel them "Bottom out" against the ring.
See if that makes a difference and let us know.

They are at the top of the wheel hubs..front & rear. You will access them better if you take the wheels off. They have a black plastic cap moulded on the top of them and a black round cable attached.
TIP: Do a search on the forum for RAVE download..it's a must, or you can buy a copy on CD from good old Egay.:behindsofa:
