Hi Everyone!

Well after years of yearning and a brief and happy foray into the world of LR Disco ownership, I've bit the bullit and bought a P38!

She's a real honey, a '95 4.0 SE manual with facelift front and rear lights and the grill and side front wing vents from a RR Sport.

I'm scared stiff from all the problems listed on this forum but I just had to scratch that itch!!

A quick question: The rear wiper, how the hell to you change it as the spoiler thingy stops it coming away from the screen? Also the rear washer, should there be a washer jet as it just appears to be a hole that the water comes out of and because of the aforementioned spoiler, you can't get to it.

Any suggestions?

Merry Christmas to every LR owner!!

the wiper is easy, it took me a while to work out but here goes.

start car, put rear wipers on, go to back and press the boot open button as the wiper comes to about 20 past. it should then stop at half past.

put something between the doors to stop it closing and re activating.

not looked at the washer jet but mine is **** poor if that makes you feel any better

Stop the wiper half way through its travel, I think by opening the tailgate, there is a thread on this. There should be a little plastic almost flush washer nozzle about 5mm diameter.

My rear washer was also **** poor, I prised it out per RAVE, took it off the pipe and found it was full of crap. Blew it out with an air line, flushed the pipe with a long squirt and it works well now.

Happy Christmas to you too Gav, and a prosperous New Year with no redundancies:)

Thanks everyone, this is a great forum and Landy owners have got to be about the friendliest on the planet.

There doesn't appear to be any nozzle, just a 3-5mm opening that the water streams rather than squirts out of. Is that right?

Must have long sticky fingers then! I was trying to poke mine with a pin yesterday but gave up as I couldn't find anything long enough.

It's probly fallen off. These things happen with Landies....:)

They take a bit of effort to prise out so not likely to have fallen off, may have pushed up inside though when someone tried to remove it for cleaning. Easy to remove the inner pannel on the tailgate to check:D

If this is your first P38 then the single most important thing that you should get for it is a copy of RAVE (Workshop manual). Have a squizz on this forum, there will be links for where to download it.

It's very useful (even if it doesn't adequately explain how my electric headrests are supposed to work).

Thats funny, my drivers one has ceased to work in the last couple of days.......

Neither of mine have worked since I bought it. You can hear the motors running but no movement. I assume something in there is stripped, but haven't been able to find any information on what the linkage consists of.

I'll have a look if I ever get round to taking the seats apart to fix the heaters. It's not exactly top of my repair list!

A question about the EAS....

It generally works fine, goes up and down as it should, but there's a vast difference between it's stability on normal or motorway settings.

It takes a minute or so to pump up in the morning, especially if it's been left standing for a while but then works ok. However, on normal settings it can sometimes feel like skating, it wanders and follows ruts in the road like a sniffer dog on acid!

If I lock it in motorway mode then it's much better.

Is this an EAS issue or would replacing steering bushes/rods be worthwhile?

Many thank and Happy new Year!

Thats just a P38, i regularly 'get pulled' into the dips created by lorries in the road surface, keeps you alert though...... :)

Glad that everyonew elses gets pulled in those ruts thought it was just mine

and mine is on coils

Mine doesn't. But it did when I stuck Scorpion STRs on it.

They're very fussy about tyres, particularly on larger wheel sizes, as J said.

Mine's now running General Grabber AT/2s and it doesn't tramline or catch bumps or any of the other horrible things is was doing on the STRs. In fact it was downright scary on the STRs - they only lasted a week before I took them back.
