Hi everyone,

I've had a number of issues with my Freelander 1 2005 HSE. Have ended up spending quite a bit on it actually over 3 years of ownership.
The latest 2 of 2021 are:
1. The wipers, normal speed and high speed work fine other than sometimes you need to flick the stalk to make them work but not always. Also the intermittent is a problem as they take about 3 seconds to begin, then move to the top and pause, 3 second or so and then go back down and so on permanently like that.
2. The back door (boot) has started clicking open when I turn on the ignition (not every time), sometimes it gets stuck shut and when it's open you can hear the central locking clicking over and over again as if I am repeatedly pressing the buttons.

Please could anyone advise me?

Cheers,

Nick

Wiper motor issues aren't uncommon, giving random operation.
Normally it's the park contact which fails to carry the current needed to drive the motor to the park position. The CCU only applies a quick pulse to the wiper motor on the intermittent setting, the motor park contact then takes over to park the blades, ready for the next pulse.

It could be coincidence, but both wiper and rear door are controlled by the CCU.

But the wiper park contacts would be my first check.

Does the switch on the boot door handle feel OK? The springs commonly fail meaning the handle feels very loose and will operate randomly.

Sorry I didn't see this. My Dad has just suggested something similar so will look into that for the door. Thank you.

Wiper motor ordered!
