Hey chaps,

Got my Landy back from Gigglepin 4x4 today after an alternator install and an all round health check. They gave me a decent size list of things that need doing, some of it I know exactly what is others I need a little advice as to how difficult/time consuming it is.

2002 TD5 90 - 75k on the clock

So heres a list -

Leaking Fuel Pressure Regulator - How difficult/time consuming is this?

Front Timing Cover Fan Bearing very noisey - This looks like a garage job to me, though input welcome

Rear Radius Arm Bush Replacment - Planning to do this at home. Polybush,
FloFlex or OEM?

Swivel Hubs need rebuilding with pins and bearings - This looks like something I could do but how hard exactly is it? How badly could I f**k this up?

Front Drive Flanges Worn - Same question as above. Any suggestion on
what brand to install? Worth putting HD ones?

Play in lower steering column joint - How hard?

Play in fixed steering shafter lower bearing - As above

Headlight Hight Adjusters Inop - Didnt even know I had these. Worth
fixing?

So any help would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks
Josh

If you want to do the above at home then polybushes will be a doddle. IF you have a good press or a very large vice however then i would always go with OEM. The difference is like night and day in my opinion.

Swivel Hubs need rebuilding with pins and bearings - This looks like something I could do but how hard exactly is it? How badly could I f**k this up?

Not difficult at all, just make sure youre careful using the correct number of shims so that the preload is set correctly.

Front Drive Flanges Worn - Same question as above. Any suggestion on

Drive flanges are a doddle. No reason not to use HD ones, can only be a good thing. Ive got them on my rear axle.

Play in lower steering column joint - How hard?

Awkward but not difficult.

Play in fixed steering shafter lower bearing - As above

Headlight Hight Adjusters Inop - Didnt even know I had these. Worth

Stuck in my two pence worth above in red. Dont know TD5s though so i couldnt comment on everything but most are an easy fix.

Thanks! Very helpful indeed!

Those bits can wait until the new year but the top two are pretty urgant :(

Plenty of "how to guides" on the internet for the swivel housing rebuild, radius arm bushes and drive flanges.

Most can be found in busters guides on this forum. Very good and helpfull

Honestly didnt even know those guides where there. Now I feel like a total tw*t.

Thanks and bookmarked.

Don't worry about it, there's a really useful one for part numbers as well, it's also got part diagrams which I've downloaded

i wouldn't bother using hd drive flanges. you want them to be the easiest to break, so it's a quick cheap fix.

if you beef them up then the next thing is the half shaft (hopefully)

lot easier to swap a flange out and cheaper too

Cheers :)

Looking for the swivel bearing/pin parts trying to work out what I actually need not having much luck. Can anyone point me in the right direction? To be honest im not really even sure what im looking for...

Cheers Trax I shall endeavour to find the correct parts. Secondly Bearmach alright for drive flanges?

Depends how much of a job you want to make of if...

Pins are usually OK so just replace the top and bottom bearings and the rear oil seal for the big chrome ball jobber, but while you're doing that there's stub axle bearings and oil seal.

Oh and don't forget one shot grease or similar for the big ball jobbery thing....

I love being sooooo knowledgeable about tratter terminology.

Please someone double check this for me, but I think I ordered (per side):

2x 606666
1x FTC3145
1x 571755
1x FTC3646
1x FTC3276
1x FTC3401
1x 571752

If you want to get some shims:
FRC2883
FRC2884
FRC2886

We all start somewhere :) Thanks again.

Think I've got everything I need except for the steering UJs. As far as I can tell I can only seem to find the entire column. There are UJs but they appear to for pre TD5 models.
