now ten chaps, im in process of building my disco cage and am now lookign at seatbelt mounts.

the belts i already have have the bolt holes fixings for the shoulder straps rather than the ones that you wrap around a pole, looking at msa book for my belts i need to put a tube within my role cage somewhere for the seatbelt to then bolt to that.

however where does the seatbelt tube need situated to be as the belts will come down the wrong side of the diagonals. ie on the outsides so i cant weld a tube between the diagonals to work,

can i weld the tube in betwen the c pillars (mines a 3 door) (being reinforced obv or do i somehow need to encorporate this into my roll cage? cant find any other info / pics online in regards to the bolt pattern they all seem to be for the wrap style seatbelts.

4 options rear gusset probably a long way on a 100 inch, need long seatbelts, option 2 use channel on rear stays, use channel on main hoop, or weld on plates in 6mm as per the usual way wrapped around the rear stays

Hi Jai

Thanks for responces..

opt 1 ) - iv got reasonably long seatbelts but they have the bolt eyes on rather than the Wrap style ones you can get..

op2 ) can the chanel go past the rear stays? or does it have to go within? hopefuly diag will explain better.

op3) not got the wrap style seatbelts and have the X in midle of main hoop so would have to do similar to OWL and weld in extra bars for them

op4) i have the 2 shoulder straps to mount rather than just one so would need seperate plates x 4 ...or get belts with just 1 bolt hole per pair of shoulder straps.

You can use channel and it can go past the rear stays would say approx an inch or enough to get the eye bolt on or fixing mounts any more without support they might not like. alternatively use the 6 mm wrap like 10.1 to fix but have one plate so it wraps around with two wings or forward facing with separate holes in each. I'm sure I've seen that passed before but do check before making its the neatest way bolting in channel looks messy but legal. The belts need not to be completely parallel as your pic they can close up at the mounts the further back so the channel needs to only be just wider than the rear stays.

I thought my shiney new green 3 point harnesses are not good for comp safari as I wrongly or rightly believed they changed he regs and each strap needs its own fixing point. This could be so far wrong but the belts are still in the bag in the shed

Cool il give it a coat of measuring and see what I can do thanks...just another quicky regarding the diagonals to back...its going g to be impossible I think to get it in car all welded in place...can I cut diagonals in half then sleeve them with tubing over top and welded in place...or would I be better welding them in in the car?

Im struggleing with this for my 90 too unfortunately. The best way is just buy the D44 mounts but theyre fairly expencive and I dont know how id get on through scrutineering making my own :(

Paul let me have a go see how I get on have some solid bar I can press just it to make the former seems a lot of people would benefit if I can make them up if it's not holding you up leave it until it's fotted
