Hello all........ I bought a 1989 TDI 90 landrover but its fitted with a 200tdi engine. I did an MPG check and am only getting 22 miles to the gallon... is this reasonable? I though I would be getting more like 30 MPG out of this engine... views please? regards JC

:welcome2:

um sounds about the norm mines doing a bit less but mostly town driving and my tyres are killing decent mpg:D

all depends how you drive it etc

depends how ya drive it end of the day it's a 1.5tonne brick. I'd say expect 22/25 round town and 25/30 on long runs if ya don't thrash it.

On a long run between Leeds and Ipswich, I've managed to get 35.06 MPG out of my 200TDi. That's with 235x85xr16 AT tyres and the Defender transfer box. Give it a good service, new filters and oil all around and then see how it does.

i normally get 28mpg if its having a lot of right foot but normally getting 30-35mpg in me 90 (disco 200tdi conversion with standard defender gearing) when running on me bfg all terrains but when running on my mud tyres i get about 15-22mpg
so tyres can make a big difference and some snorkels also affect the mpg.
