Hi everyone. I have a discovery 1. 300 Tdi. Auto. When I first got the vehicle the injector pump was controlled by "fly by wire" taking its commands from the ECU. This however broke down and instead of getting it fixed, at a great expense I set too and fitted a manual pump. Unfortunately someone had played with the diesel screw and the turbo boost settings. After matching the pump to the auto gearbox I set too adjusting the pump to give good fuel return with decent acceleration. The engine is in good order. Starts with just a touch of the key and doesn't smoke even on hard acceleration. After monitoring the fuel use age over many weeks with adjustments to get what I feel is the best performance the disco is returning 24mpg round town and my best was 36mpg on a long run travelling between 50 and 60mph.
With me being new to the land rover scene is this a good fuel consumption or could it be improved.
