Hi, I currently drive a mondeo and do about 400 miles a week for which the car is perfect. But its boring and I want a freelander. My first question though, If I change the mondo for a freelander what would it be like driving the 400 miles a week. What are they like on motorways - fuel consumpotion, things I should know etc.

Any recomendations as to if this is a wise thing to do.

Get the diesel, its a no brainer.

1.8 is cr*p, well it's ok, but there are a lot of problems with that engine.
V6 is just too thirsty

Diesel is supposed to be slower than the 1.8, but I never really noticed any difference between the two, diesel actually felt faster in day-to-day driving.

I have driven them a while back, and it is good for general driving around, nice and comfy, pretty quiet as I recall. Handles well for a high vehicle, and cruises easily on the motorway. I think it is a better vehicle than many give it credit for -especially among LR enthusiats. Hence, ironically, this is probably not the best place to be asking about one!
