1/ The windscreen washer packed up, so I have swapped the pipes on the two motors (and connectors) on the bottom of the washer bottle. I can wash the front windscreen (important) but cannot wash the rear (unimportant).

I can't see how to take the motor out of the bottle. Is it possible?

2/ The f/n/s window has stopped working. It went vvvvvvvveeeeeeeerrrrrrrryyyyyyyy slow for a while and has now stopped totally (in the up position). I keep hesitating to have a go at fixing it because I'm worried it will go down and not back up! Any suggestions?

Thanks.

Screen wash pumps are easy - disconnect all pipes and wires to the washer bottle, undo the nuts holding the washer bottle to the inner wing then remove the washer bottle. Pull out faulty washer pump, push replcement in to the hole, put washer bottle back, reconnect wires and pipes, do up nuts, test. job done!

Slow window - a bit more involved. Remove door card, remove plastic vapour sheet. You should be able to see the motor and regulator. What you need to decide here is whether or not to simply grease and generally lubricate the regulator and see how it goes or do you try to lower the window and remove the whole thing.

If the window moves then it is likely the motor is O.K. they generally work or they don't. Check the regulator is properly secured to the door, if it is loose and the window is jamming then the motor will struggle. Try some silicon grease in the window guides. I am afraid with a slow window it is rather trial and error and something of a PITA - it's just fiddly rather than difficult. HTH

I had the same prob on my '87 & the guy I use managed to replace the pump without removing the tank. It is, for obvious reasons, a tight fit in the 'hole' & the replacement pumps are poor quality anyway - first tried a BP which lasted for 7 months, then a genuine LR which did'nt work at all! Both replaced under warranty.
