So I recently installed some aftermarket seats in the defender and unfortunately during modification one of the runners blew up into a million little ball bearings. Unfortunately because of this it's resulted in the runner no longer working *sigh* simple jobs always turn out to be the hard jobs.

Anyway! My thinking is, what if I remove the lever for adjusting the seat position? After all there are classics that don't have runners, so in theory is it one of those 'if it's there it has to work, if it's not there I can't test it' type of things?

Really don't want to fork out for new seats...

Thanks guys!

Seat runners are not tested it will be fine.

Edit... there is no room in a defender to move the seat back & forth anyway.

Only applies to driver's seat.
"6.2.5. Driver’s seat
You do not need to check that the driver’s seat can be secured in all possible positions. For electrically adjusted seats, you do not need to check that any ‘memory position’ function is working.
(b) A driver’s seat:
(i) fore and aft adjustment mechanism not working as intended Major
(ii) seat moving inadvertently or backrest cannot be retained in the upright position Dangerous."

Well that's a real bit of luck, it's the passenger side that decided to blow up. Thank you very much for your time! Much appreciated
