Took my 200tdi 1994 disco for its MOT today and it was failed on a loose swivel pin housing, when on the ramp and the front n/s wheel free he could wobble the wheel quite allot, when I looked on the inside of the wheel I could see the whole hub moving from the bottom of the swivel housing, the tester said oh your swivel housing is broken, after looking at the break down of the front hub and swivel housing, could this movement be a broken bearing on the bottom of the swivel, I sort of recall hitting a large pot hole about 6 weeks ago, but didn’t give it much thought until now. Has anyone on here experienced this problem before?

Dead bottom bearing, but if it's been gone a while it could have damaged the swivel it's self

I thought. My bottom bearing had gone but turns out it was the top and needed new or more shims also but they usually come with the bearing kit. I remember somewhere stating if the play is at the bottom of the swivel it's the top bearing and vice versa. But can't remember why? But it rang true for mine anyway.

because with weight of vehicle play will allways be at top which evers worn ,likewise bottom when axle jacked up

just as well to do bearings seals and cv joint all in one better than having to dismantle it again

Had the offending hub and swivel to bits yesterday, bottom bearing shot to bits , top also damaged I’ve ordered a swivel kit, plus stub axel bearing and seal.
