I have a series 3 and its just going in for its mot the speedo That Craddocks supplied by mistake is in KPH not Mph does this make any difference my landy was registered in may 1970

Does it only show km ? Pretty sure that will be a fail.

Crazy thing is the speedo doesnt actually have to work , but it has to be unobscured and have correct increments shown.

I put my last car in for 2 mots with a non working speedo....i just went by revs or the sat nav on a trip.

No, it's a pass - I've got several cars with kph-only speedos, there's no problem at all.

The only things a speedo can fail on are being obviously broken or missing - so the needle having fallen off, or the glass smashed - or the illumination not working. Even that's fairly new - and the illumination caught me out the other week...

No it won't fail for that the tester will/should change mile to Km on your mot pass/fail cert.

1. Speedometer not fitted.

2. Speedometer incomplete, clearly inoperative or the dial glass broken or missing.

3. The speedometer cannot be illuminated.

These are the only reasons a vehicle can fail it's mot for the speedo

wouldn't be at all surprised if the tester doesn't even notice :D

I had a km car and only one inspector noticed and actually put km on the mot cert

I once put a car in for MOT with two speedo's, long story, but once I'd told the inspector which mileage to use all was fine :)

Prob cos his computer told him the mileage at last MOT so there's a discrepancy, worth mentioning on a modern era car but hardly on a 40 year old Landy.

I sort of want to take a car in for its test with the speedo marked in furlongs per fortnight or m/s now :p
