Hi,

I've just started my Land a Rover life. Bought my first one about a month ago. Just got her on the road this weekend for the first time. She's a 1997 Defender, called Grace (named by the children, not me. I'd have called her something much more masculine!)

A few problems so far, but I'm sure nothing too serious.

I keep blowing the indicator plugs though and not sure why. I'm presuming it's a wire I've caught somewhere, unless it's a common fault anyone could help me with?

Also, I have a bad knocking sound when on full lock.

To be honest, this list could go on......

Anyway, I'm off to sure the forum now to find all the answers :):)

Hello

:welcome2:

Knocking when cornering could be cv joints.

Indicator plugs? Whether ya mean bulbs or fuses sounds like an earthing fault. Is it the same one each time?

Hi Bromsgrove.

I meant Fuse, realised I'd put the wrong thing once posted!

I think I've drilled through one of the wires somewhere.

The knocking is only in full lock. Would that still be CV joint?

Yup drilling through the wire would do it ;) :D :D

Knocking only on full lock says c.v. joints to me. Then again do you have spacers fitted? How much offset do your wheels have? Are the steering stops set right?
