Hey chappies!
1972 Series 3, with new points, new plugs, new condenser in a 1978 Distributor. Timing was set but not convinced it's ticketyboo yet.
Carb is a Weber 34.
Around a month ago, the wire to the back of the dash that connects to the inspection lamp connectors fell off, and caused a wee fire in the electrics...everything seems fine, but nae headlamps, side lamps, although headlamp flash seems to work.
I'm getting fooked off with stuttering though.
It's awful under acceleration. I can't get the sediment bowl nut to loosen and there does seem to be a wee bit o' ****e in there.
Whipped the carb top off, cleaned out the filter, (very mucky) and also the little float tank bit, which was also a little bit crappy.
Adjusted tickover and tried to spin the mixture screw around a bit too.
Car is idling a lot smoother now, but under anything but gentle acceleration, it stutters like mad.
What could it be? The coil, could it have been damaged (low tension lead) in the wee fire? Is it timing? Is it mixture?
Any ideas?
