I know most of you guys like your original p38's and I know I will probably get slated for bringing this up but is there anybody here that has done much to there's to take it away from standard and made there's more of a off-road toy ?

Mine is modded and done some off roading with it.

Nothing hugely extreme. And the mods are relatively simple. But it has massively improved the weak areas the stock vehicle has off road. It is now very capable.

Although ultimately it is still a LARGE vehicle off road with lots of vulnerable bodywork.

Few years back we had a bobtailed p38 at an RTV event. Sadly they only turned up once. But it looked pretty capable.

About the only thing I have done to mine is recalibrate the offroad height to give an additional 2 inches. The same as what you'd get if it went into beached mode. Also fitted BFG KO2 tires. I have done very well offroad in the mountains of BC following Defenders everywhere. Considering I only paid $1000 Cdn for my 99 Autobiography I am laughing. I am going to add a snorkel as the air intake is in a position where it could be flooded by a wave. Have thought about modifying the height sensor arms like Johnstone Rods to give even more height along with extended shocks and brake lines but not really sure it is necessary for what I do. I always say it doesn't matter what you do to your vehicle you can never drive up Mt. Everest.

I don't feel quite so bad what I've done to mine now  at least for the time being until I decide to do something too drastic with it anyway

Tbh with the whole snorkel thing I majorly agree mine has no arch liners as they interfere with the tire/wheel combo and it is easily filled with water, was the last thing I done to mine and if you go with the terrafirma one don't follow the instructions as the measurements they provide are wrong ( luckily I marked mine up with templates before I cut any holes and was quite far out)

Have to say, I always found the off road height to be too firm, uncompliant and bouncy off road. Don't get me wrong, the extra height by increasing it 2 inches must play dividends on the poor departure and breakover angles, but it sure must be riding firm. And with stand length shocks, very little available suspension droop.

Mines on springs, isn't too bad and about 4 inches over standard and on extended shocks ,is a bit rougher than standard height air suspension but certainly isn't uncomfortable
