Decided to take the bull by the horns and take My P38 for it's MOT. It's the first one since I bought her. It's my first MOT for 14 years!!
I thought I may have problems with the emissions and a possible slight weeping on one of the wheels, but no, it passed!! Not to mention any other horrors lurking. But I was going to find out.
The emissions test was a bit of a laugh - when they started the fast idle test readings were going all over the place. It failed.
Then they did a second fast idle test and the readings were still erratic. But it passed.
It then went on to pass the natural idle test, still with erratic readings.
When I asked the guy about the readings he said that it seemed that there is a slight miss fire which throws the reading all over the place, but the test machine seemed to cater for that and gave me a pass.
And I had an advisory on the front shocks - both had a slight misting of oil.
The tester commented that the car is in really good nick for its age and couldn't see any other issues. He even commented that my airbags were fairly new!!. I replied "Yes, I know. I only replaced them at the weekend!!!"
So I am a very happy bunny and can now look at changing the shocks at some point and look into what maybe causing the misfire.
